Steels Dr Jack: 2024 MXGP of trentino - mx2/emx
Report:
Once again both of our riders, Yago Martinez on his TM Moto 4T 250Fi MX machine in MX2 and team-mate Brando Rispoli on his TM Moto 2T 125 MX machine in the EMX 125 championship, are competing. The pairing arrived in Trentino certainly in better shape than at the last GP, we have taken the many positive ideas from the performances of our boys and used them to great effect, which allow us to continue working much more serenely.
Let’s start with Brando who, having solved his throat problems, showed up at the second round of the EMX 125 European Championship with a great desire for revenge…
Already in the time trials on Saturday he achieved the fifth fastest time in his group, earning a good place at the starting gate. The first heat took place in the afternoon and he was immediately the protagonist. In fact, after the first corner he took the lead but immediately afterwards a small error caused him to lose several positions. In the first laps Brando didn’t find the right rhythm, then as the minutes passed he recovered and climbed up to tenth position. In the second heat raced on Sunday morning, yet another excellent start which saw him turn second. This time Brando made no mistakes and moved into third place on the first lap. Then after being second he lost a couple of positions. Up to three quarters of the race he maintained fourth position but then with three laps to go when he was overtaken again, from there he controlled fifth position and took it right up to the checkered flag. With these placings Brando finished the overall GP in seventh place and now, with only one race run, he is 14th in the championship.
BRANDO RISPOLI: “All in all a good weekend even if I’m not very satisfied. In qualifying I’m improving, I managed to be 5th in my group. The starts were really excellent, in the race a holeshot then at the second corner an error made me lose many positions, the race pace wasn’t very fast, after a few overtaking I finished 10th. Race two again a good start in the top 5 positions, I was fourth the whole race and I had a lot of fun, I battled with those who were fighting for the podium the pace was good then in the last three laps I had some stiffness in my arms and I finished 5th. It’s the first race where I manage to finish both heats, the sensations are good, aware of the fact that I didn’t race in Riola due to fever. We are trying to improve, I thank Robin Caldelli, Massimiliano Costantini, TM moto, Mario Resti, Ivano Zanatta, the Torre della Meloria motoclub and my sponsors”.
For Yago, Saturday’s qualifying ended with the 19th position time. In the afternoon the RAM Qualifying Race took place, this saw him start in the middle of the group. During the race Yago showed a good pace which allowed him to make some overtakes and he finished in 15th position…
At the start of the first heat on Sunday he immediately found himself in the top ten, even if in the first lap he lost several positions, dropping to 13th. Over the course of the minutes he found his pace which allowed him to continue fighting close to the top fifteen and then to eventually finish in 16th place, winning the first world championship points of this MX2 World Championship. The second heat started less well but still after the top ten. This time too Yago fought to gain more points, in the end the fatigue made itself felt a little, but again this time too, with 18th place at the finish line, he brought home more points. At the end of the day he took 17th place in the GP and is now 23rd in the championship standings.
YAGO MARTINEZ: “Finally some light in the Trentino GP! We have made a good step forward, with a very solid weekend. Now it’s time to reflect and continue working to improve in the next GPs, thanks so much to the people who are giving me all their trust. See you in Cingoli for the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige!”.
Next Saturday and Sunday Yago and Brando will be involved in the second round of the Italian Pro Prestige which will take place on the historic Cingoli track in the Marche region.
